Neil is married with 6 daughters and 6 grandchildren and lives in Lincoln with his wife Margaret.
Educated at Lincoln Christ’s Hospital Grammar School with 14’O’ Levels and completing his Master of Science Degree at Hull’s University of Lincolnshire and Humberside.
Professionally qualified initially as a Chartered Builder ( FCIOB- Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and past Chairman) with 35 years practical experience in site construction and building maintenance management as Surveyor and Construction Manager for the £220 million annual turnover Simons Construction Group. Neil set up a number of construction companies with Simons as General Manager in Boston, Grantham, Hull, York, Kings Lynn, Ipswich and Nottingham with individual company turnovers growing from £1m to £22m/year. In recent years as Director with the Lindum Construction Group of companies with 550 employees and £72m turnover
With 7 years Hospital Engineering experience in Health Care Building Design & Maintenance in NHS Estates Departments in Acute, General and Psychiatric Hospitals in Lincolnshire and as on call engineer.
Neil’s engineering technology experience extended whilst employed for 6 years by East Midlands Electricity Plc and PowerGen gaining first hand experience and knowledge in Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), Combined Heat & Power (CHP) units installation and design, Control Technology Systems, Energy Management & Facilities Management.
He is a fellow member and examiner on the qualifications panel for the British Institute of Facilities Management ( FBIFM)
Neil also has obtained professional qualifications in Architectural Design as a Project Manager and Fellow of the Architects and Surveyors Institute ( FASI) and qualified at UMIST Manchester University as Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (MCIAT).
After 8 years continuous study in Lincoln he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) which forms the basis of his current Agency business in Estates and Property Portfolio Developments.
On the professional and self employed circuits Neil has been trading as Xtrateq Estate Management since 1998 and as partner with Neil Reynolds (RIBA) in their company X L Architects Ltd which they formed together in March 2006 operating in the commercial, offices and industrial sectors. He is also a director for the registered charity Adults Supporting Adults in Lincolnshire helping disabled and disadvantaged adults enjoy a better life style.
Neil’s main interests are Family, Motorcycling ( Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists Instructor), Sport, Flying ( Private Pilot’s License at 18), Art and playing guitar.
His sense of humour is displayed in the occasional cartoons which he draws to add a bit of fun if life gets too serious !
